Looking at the features, though, it’s not all that surprising. The new Nikon D90 offers many new features and the latest Nikon technology at a reasonable price. Well, the Canon 5D Mark II — although it’s approximately 2 1/2 times more expensive — matches all of the Nikon D90’s capabilities, and them takes them to the next level.

For example, the Nikon D90 offers a 12.3 megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor with 4288 x 2848 resolution. The Canon 5D Mark II bumps this up to 21.1 megapixels (5616 x 3744 resolution).

The Nikon D90’s “expanded ISO sensitivity” provides image capture in low light conditions up to the equivalent of ISO 6400. The Canon 5D Mark II matches this, and also offers its own “expanded” ISO sensitivity up to ISO 25,600.

The Nikon D90’s D-movie mode impressed me, with endless possibilities of capturing amazingly creative digital videos through a variety of Nikkor lenses. Well, the Canon 5D Mark II not only captures video, but it does it in true 1080p, high-def resolution in Live View. Around half an hour of HD, broadcast quality video can be captured, and then output via an HDMI interface.

Although the price of this camera is out of reach of the average photographer, for anyone who wants to upgrade their DSLR to today’s best standards, the Canon 5D Mark II should definitely be considered.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love digital SLR cameras, especially my Nikon cameras. My favorite is my Nikon D80. But one thing that has always bugged me is that there are features you can get in a pocket-sized compact camera (or even the camera built into your cell phone) that you couldn’t get in a DSLR costing more than $1000. Features like auto-face recognition and video recording were — in my opinion, anyway — conspicuously absent.

Now, a little over two years since the initial release of the Nikon D80, Nikon has come out with a camera that literally has everything in it I could imagine: the Nikon D90. 12.3 megapixels, DX-format CMOS sensor, auto-focus AND auto-face recognition, low-light capabilities (up to ISO 3200), super-fast 4.5 shots per second for those days at the BMX track… the features go on and on.

This camera has almost all of the latest technology of the flagship Nikon D300, but it’s less than half the price!

But wait… there’s more! A feature has been added that surprised even me. The Nikon D90 can record videos, with or without sound (your choice), in 720p resolution!

Can you imagine the possibilities?!?

Think of all the great photos that you’ve seen. All the Ansel Adams-esk landscapes… The gorgeous portraits, candid shots and wedding photos… The action sports shots… The abstract images created by changing the color settings or by using a wide-angle lens, a fish-eye lens or other unique optics.

Now imagine… all of these “special effects” can be available in a hand-held video camcorder; a camcorder called the Nikon D90.

I will be writing much more about this camera soon, going into its new, unique features in much more detail. For now, I recommend that you buy a Nikon D90 now. This will be a purchase you can cherish for a long, long time.

I personally own this digital frame, and when I purchased it, the price was twice what it is here. Even at the higher price, I think it’s a good value because of all of the features it offers and the quality of the frame.

Displaying your photos is as easy as taking the memory card from your camera and inserting it into the digital frame. D-Lighting uses localized tone control technology to further optimize highlight and shadow detail while also maintaining natural contrast, giving photographers the ability to capture more perfectly exposed images, even in unusual lighting conditions. In Handheld mode, the user is able to recompose the frame prior to actual shooting; familiar TTL phase-detection AF is activated, using all 51 AF points. Tripod mode is designed for precise focus accuracy with still subjects and tripod stabilization. It enables focal-plane contrast-detect AF on a desired point within a specific area. Remote view, focusing and shooting can also be controlled from a PC (via connection or wireless) using the optional Nikon Camera Control Pro 2 software. Additionally, the Virtual Horizon feature on the D700 can now be superimposed over the Live View monitor image to aid composition.

While using Live View to compose or review images and settings, users will appreciate the ultra-high resolution 920,000-dot VGA, three-inch TFT LCD monitor with tempered glass that provides a wide 170-degree viewing angle. I purchased the Nikon D60 as an addition/upgrade to my E990. I am now a casual user taking professional quality photos. I purchased the package deal with a second lens, 2 DVD’s and camera bag. It was very nice getting everything together. When the DVD’s reference using a particular lens I have it in the bag.

I purchased this Nikon D0 since locating 35mm film is getting harder. I have a smaller Nikon Coolpix L4 which is ok but I really wanted better resolution. You will not be disappointed with the D60. I received mine 4 days ago so I’m not up to speed with all the controls - it will do everything (editing, red eye removal, etc.) prior to transferring to a computer.

I am 69 yrs. old & recovering from back surgery. I can’t stand and try to support a heavy camera and lenses like I used to. I like the Nikon D60 because it is nice and light & compact. I can snap a picture in no time at all. This camera is a “snap” to use. I would recommend it to anyone whose hands tremble with old age or whatever. The features are outstanding. The Nikon D60 is easy to use also. Incidentally the price was fantastic.

I went to the aquarium with my daughter to take picture.
It was amazing!!!. easy to take pictures without any classes and help. Auto pop-up flash is enough to take a picture inside aquarium and also great outside. I love it!!!

This is my first DSLR camera and I love it. Compared to the FujiFilm I’ve been using, this is the cats meow. I have no complaints only praise for this and I will never go with another brand other than Nikon. Price is a bit off but it’s still affordable for what you get.

I just bought this camera after my two year old son and 1 year old daughter decided to give our kodak a bath…. yeah kids. I LOVE, absolutly LOVE this camera. It takes BEAUTIFUL Crystal clear pictures and it comes with so many options for upgrading later… if you ever needed or wanted to. Easy to use right out of the box (after charging of course). I am still learning all the functions, but i know i will never stray from nikon again. LOVE IT
